September - October 2015

I really shouldn't wait so long to write in this thing. Its hard to remember all the stuff that has gone on for the last few months. I will do my best to get caught up on what has been happening in the Wynder family for the last couple of months. Here goes.....

Brody and Football

Brody had a great season and loved every minute of playing football. They were only beat once in their season and finished the season playing 2 games in Magrath and winning them both. Brody just had the one touchdown but he improved so much during the season. He made some good runs and had some great hits. He had a few hits where the kids he hit were very slow to get up. we don't want anyone to get hurt, but it some how is kind of cool to see your kid lay a good hit on another kid. Brody wasn't immune from getting hit either, he also got hit pretty hard a few times, but got right back up and into the play every time he was knocked down. We do worry a little that as the boys get older and the hits become harder. Hopefully Brody can just play smart and stay away from getting hurt too bad playing football. He loves the game and i think he will be a pretty good player as he gets older and better understands the game.

Halloween

In usual fashion, the Wynder's were deciding their Halloween costumes basically the night before halloween. We always say that we will plan better "next year"and be prepared, but it never seems to go that way. Tyson was a scary vampire for school and then a pumpkin for the night of Trick or Treating. Brody was a mime, Haydn was some kind of gangster, Kristi was a witch and I was a Duck Dynasty guy (my beard limits my costume ideas). Little Lenny Lou was a bee. All of our kids have worn the same Bee costume.

Lennon walked yo a few doors on her own this year and it was so cute to see her hold out her bag for the treats. The little kids only knocked on a few houses and then we went up to Justin's for pizza and to hang out (which is a halloween tradition). The older boys stayed out a long time and they came back with a pillow case full of candy.

Everything Else in a Nutshell

I had a school science conference in Edmonton and we got to stay in the Fantasyland hotel for a few nights. The main speaker at the end of the conference was Chris Hatfield who is a Canadian astronaut. There were some good sessions and listening to Chris Hatfield was a great experience. I am not a trained science teacher, but I am loving the opportunity to learn more about it. The boys were excited about being in Edmonton because we told them that we would go to the waterslides. We were at the waterslides from 11am - 7pm. The workers basically had to kick us out of the park. The kids had a blast (with minor melt downs here and there). Haydn rode the slides so much that he had some serious marks on his back when the day was done. We stayed with Ryan and Brandi one night and of coarse had to go to Chuck E. Cheese on of the days as well.

Brody has been playing champs basketball and he is improving every week. They just finished for this semester and they will start playing again after the Christmas break. Right now he is playing in a little volleyball league once a week at the elementary school. He can serve over hand like a champ.

Haydn has been in my Pop and Rock class this semester and we just had our final concert. Haydn and his friend Briggs Holland played "Were Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister and "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters. They did awesome and Haydn nailed his guitar solo on Were Not Gonna Take it. We had the whole audience sing along with us and the kids had a blast. Haydn is becoming a great little musician. That kid can basically do anything if he puts his mind to it.

Parker left on his mission last week. He will be in Toronto for the next 2 years. We went up to Edmonton to listen to his farewell talk and he did a great job. What a great example for my 3 sons to have in their lives. He will make a great missionary.

We travelled to Edmonton so many times in the last month. I have been getting my tooth fix by Steve Aneca. I went for my final appointment and he put a tooth implant in for me. I am so glad that i don't have to wear that flipper (tooth on a retainer) anymore. It was so annoying to always take my tooth out when I wanted to eat. Steve did such a great job and you can't even tell that one of my front teeth are fake.
