Its Been Awhile

I really should do this more often, because I have a hard time remembering the details of all the things that we have done over the last few months. I am pretty sure I have told myself this many times over my blogging career. Maybe this time I will finally take my own advice.....probably not, but heres hoping!! I will do my best to give a good run down of the events in the Wynder's lives over the last few months.

We are all moved in and settled in the new house. Everyone loves where we are at. The kids love having all their own rooms, and the extra space is amazing!! I am sure we will have many great memories in this new house!! The kids especially love the Hot Tub!!

Haydn finished his basketball season. They lost is the semifinal to Raymond. Haydn Had hurt is heel in practice and was not able to play in one of his playoff games, but he didn't want to end the season on the bench, so he battled through the pain and played. He had a great season and improved a lot over the season. It was great to watch him every game get a little better and a little more confident in what he was doing on the court.

Kristi and I went to the Garth Brooks concert in Edmonton. Garth played a total of 9 sold out shows in Edmonton. We had a blast, and we knew all the songs!!! I grew up listening to my older brothers blast Garth Brooks through out the house. It was honestly one of the best concerts I have ever been to. For a guy who is 55 years old, he had so much energy and ran around that stage like a mad man!! Plus it was also a fun concert cause I just about had to fight some Cowboy guy who hit me with his shoulder because I accidentally ran into his girl (I did say sorry to her). Kristi always gets nervous because I have a hard time backing down when someone "Yips" at me.

Haydn was in Drama this year for school. He went into it thinking that it was going to be a fun class, but quickly started to dislike it. Many of times he came to me asking to get out of the class, but I just kept telling him that he was going to finish what he started!! He wasn't to happy to hear that opinion. So he battled through it and finally it came to opening night. Haydn Played a Guard as his character. The best part is that he ended up loving being in the play!! hahaha I guess he just hated the practicing for the play.

I was asked to play in a hockey tournament in Spokane (an old timers hockey tourney.....thats right, I'm an old timer now). I have never actually played in a real hockey game before, only pick up games. I was a little nervous, but I thought I did pretty dang good (even though we lost all our games), for not growing up playing hockey. It was a blast hanging out with the guys! I rode down to Spokane (6 hours) in a truck with Tim Williams, JJ Salmon, Riley Leavitt, Brendon Shipley, and Chris Olthuis. We were squished!! I rode in the middle front almost the entire way...hahaha

I was able to go to a National Science conference in Los Angeles with Scott Quinton. The school paid for my flights, hotel and food. It was a great opportunity for me to become a better science teacher. I didn't take any science courses in university, so I have been just learning on the fly while teaching science. This Conference had hundreds of sessions to attend and covered every type of science outcome. Bill Nye the Science Guy was one of the Key Note speakers at the conference. It was awesome to listen to him, because I have used his videos so many times in my classes. He talked a lot about climate change and helping the next generation of scientists to change the world. The Other Key Note speaker of the conference was Andy Weir, the author of the book "The Martian". He mainly just told his story about how he came about writing the book.

Of course we had to do some sight seeing while in LA. We went to a Clippers/Lakers game, which was the first NBA game I have ever been to. We went to the final Preseason game between the Dodgers and Angels, which was played in Dodgers stadium. We drove down to Santa Monica to see the beach and the pier.  Drove through Beverly Hills. We went to Hollywood Boulevard where Grauman's Chinese Theatre is and  all the stars are on the sidewalk. We had a great time and I was able to attend some great sessions during the conference. It was like work and a holiday rolled into one trip.

Brody is playing spring basketball right now. They just had a tournament in Lethbridge. They won one of their three games. One of the games Brody got the "Hustle" award because of how hard he was working on the court. Brody is always working hard and playing great defence. He gets better every time he plays!

Easter break started off great! We had tickets to City and Colour in Lethbridge. The concert was at the Yates theatre which is a super small venue. The concert was just Dallas Green of City and Colour with one other guy playing an acoustic set. They played like 21 songs. It was awesome. I have never heard a cleaner voice than Dallas Green. One of my top concerts ever.

Then Easter break took a turn for the worst. Kristi had been having some back pain for the last few weeks, but it got even worse during the break. There were 3 or 4 days where she could not even walk because the pain was so bad. She had been to the chiropractor over and over but nothing seemed to be getting better. She is now getting an MRI to see what needs to be done with the back because nothing seems to be improving. This is coming at the time of year when we are the most busy. All the boys will be playing baseball starting next week and Me and Kristi are supposed to be starting softball this week. I am pretty sure Kristi will not be playing any ball this year.
