A Quick Summary of the Last 10 Months

This is probably the longest that I have gone without writing in this blog. I really should do better, because it is going to be hard to write with detail about the things that happened 10 months ago. I will do my best to explain our busy lives for the last few months. If I cant I will just post pictures and they are worth 1000 words right?

Haydn and Brody Basketball

Haydn finished his grade 9 year of basketball winning the divisional championship and placing 3rd in zones. They had a fun team and a great coach. They also won a tournament in Medicine Hat. Brody had another good season of Spring league basketball and that helped hime get ready for school basketball in the next school year.

Brody Badminton

Brody was on the grade 6 badminton team. He was a doubles partner with Ethan Michel. They played in one tournament in Bow Island and they won the championship. The boys played hard and beat 4 or 5 other teams to win the tournament.

Baseball for all the Kids

Haydn could of played High School baseball in grade 9, but decided to play one more year of Little League baseball. They had a fun team and Haydn had a good season at the plate and in the field. I think it was good for him to have one more year of little league before the big jump to the high school team. Haydn also was old enough to play Mens softball this year. He played on the same team as his Uncle Jimmy.

Brody had a good little team in the Major division. They won the league championship after beating a Magrath team that had only lost once the whole season. The kids really started to play great together at the right time, during the playoffs. They beat a Raymond team in the championship by 10 runs. Brody was the main catcher and always seemed to come through with a big hit when it was needed. Brody also played South Chief summer baseball as well. It is a definite time commitment, but he loves baseball so we were willing to put the time in. They had a great little team and Brody had a great summer. He was one of the top kids in batting average and RBI's. They won the Bronze medal in the "AA" Prairie Championships.

Tyson had another year of Coach Pitch. Every year he gets better and better. This year he had some great hits. Even a few hit the outfield. It will be a lot of fun to see him continue to play and get better.

Lennon had her very first year of T-ball. Of coarse she had to have a pink bat and a pink helmet for the season. She had a lot of fun, even though it was out of control sometimes hahaha. Most of the kids would rather play in the dirt than play baseball.

Dad (Darrells) Accident

My dad fell down 8 or 9 stairs in the apartment he was living in and fractured his skull and broke a bunch of ribs. We honestly didn't know if he was going to survive the fall, he was in pretty rough shape and the doctors were preparing us for the worst. I cant believe how well the body recovers, because he went from looking like he would never get out of the hospital to being out of there in 2 weeks. My brothers took turns staying up there with him and making sure he was getting what he needed.

Haydn JV High School Volleyball

Haydn made the high school volleyball team this year. We were so proud of him and his hard work to make the team. He did 2 volleyball camps during the summer to get himself ready for the high school tryouts. They had a good team and were one of the top teams in the league. The only team they lost to in league was CCH. They lost in the championship of the Chinook tournament to CCH, but they won the Winston Churchill tournament beating taper in the final. I the final Zone tournament the boys lost to CCH in the championship game. It was a lot of fun traveling around and watching Haydn play volleyball this school year.

Brody Grade 7 Volleyball

Brody made the grade 7 volleyball team this year. Their team was a work in progress. They had a few kids that had never played volleyball before. The boys lost in the divisional final to a very good and tough Magrath team. The boys did win a tournament in Barnwell, in which they were extremely excited. Brody played very well and was a great setter and server throughout the season.

Brads Surgery

Brad had to have another surgery on hits heart. They had to replace a valve. The surgery lasted almost 14 hours and they had to open him up and stop his heart twice. Initially they finished the surgery and thought everything was fine, but then one of the doctors ran a scan and noticed that the heart was leaking. So they had to re-open Brad and fix the leak. After the 14 hours they had successfully fixed the leak and replaced the valve. This was an extremely stressful time for Justin and Jo, but the town was so supportive of them and Brad.

Tyson's Finger

Brody and Tyson were playing downstairs and Brody accidentally slammed Tyson's finger in the door. The force of the slam cut the top and bottom of Tysons finger and also fractured his finger as well. You start to know your kids Cry and when Tyson started crying I knew something was seriously wrong this time. Tyson was very brave at the hospital and took the stitches like a champ. The doctor gave Tyson some "sleepy juice" as he called it. It was supposed to make Tyson tired so he really wouldn't remember getting the stitches. The medicine basically had the opposite effect on Tyson. It made him so talkative and he was saying the weirdest stuff. I was laying by him and he said to me, "Dad you have a beard!!" hahaha.
