Reading Week Trip

Well again, one of the perks of being a teacher is getting time off. Monday February 18th was family day and then we give our students Tuesday and Wednesday off and then we have Teachers Convention Thursday and Friday. So with this time off we wanted to go somewhere with the kids. We decided to go and see some of my missionary buddies in Utah. We stayed with the Grinceri Family (Paul,Bec,Emma,Hayden,Baily & Kendall) who just moved here from Perth Australia 2 years ago.

We were a little worried about driving with the kids for 12 hours in the van. We left Friday morning and wanted to drive to Idaho falls (which was 8 hours away) to stay with Ken Dudley and his family. The kids were great on the drive.....way better than we thought they were going to be with being all cooped up in the van and in their seats. We made sure the DVD player was working and that all their devices were charges and filled with games and movies. These devices are a life saver these days when it comes to travel. I remember driving to Arizona with my family and having nothing to do in the back seat. I honestly can't even remember what I did the whole way.....probably drove my parents crazy. One of the best ideas that came from the back seat was "Forts". The kids, with the help of mom set up blankets in the back and gave each kid their own fort. Haydn was blocked off in the back, Brody was covered in his seat, and Tyson was in his seat. This helped the kids keep to themselves and not fight the whole way.

from bugging each other

We rolled into Idaho Falls around 8pm. We went out to eat with the Dudley family that night and
then came back to hang out for the rest of the night. Ken records music, so his basement is just one big recording studio with electric, acoustic, and bass guitars everywhere. He has a big recording room with speakers, amps and recording machines everywhere. We played his electric drums and played some music together. It was great!

We continued our trip to Utah around noon. We only had about 3-4 hours left to go, so it was a good break to stop in Idaho Falls. We stayed in Draper Utah, which had some massive houses. Really all we did was hang out and eat. We met some of my other missionary buddies and went out to eat. It was good to see them again. It is crazy how friendships form on missions when you really only know some of these people for months at a time. We met up with Ano Lobendahn and his son Aiden ( who has crazy curly hair). Brody and Aiden were like two peas in a pod!

We went to a Brazilian restaurant one night and it was amazing. We had a little piece of wood and one side was green and the other was red. As long as you kept the green side up the waiters would continue to come around to the table with big skewers of meat and cut it off for you. The food was so good, and one of my favourites was the roasted pineapple. We ate until we could not even move haha.

One of the funniest parts was going to a place called "Airbourne". It was a huge building filled with trampolines. One room was for dodgeball on tramps, one room was for just jumping around and doing tricks, one room was for jumping into big foam pits, and the last room was an obstacle coarse above a foam pit. We loved this place and we all had so much fun. I would come back to Utah just to go back to this place. The kids were all over the place ....Brody came back to see us one time just dripping in sweat and said "my dodgeball tea just won the championship". Me and Haydn stayed in the tramp section and just practiced jumping, flipping and doing tricks off the tramps that were on the walls. We will definitely come back to Utah and Airbourne, we had a blast.

The last night that we were there we had dinner with everyone that we could. We went to the Texas Roadhouse. So there was Me, Kristi, our 3 boys, Paul, Bec, their 4 kids, Ano his wife and their 2 kids, Jody Heninger Oblad and her husband, Bunker, and Ginger Matkin all eating together. So 19 people all together. Needless to say we took up a large section of the restaurant and I am sure with us and the kids we were not the quietest section either haha. It was so fun catching up with everyone and seeing where everyone is at in their lives.

Tyson's Gummi-Toe Game
I was nervous about the drive home because we were going to drive the whole way home in1 day with the kids. BUT the kids were champions!!! They were so good. Tyson was such a little trooper being stuck in his chair the whole time. Kristi made up a game with Tyson to keep him happy. She would put a gummy lifesaver on one of his toes and he would have to eat it off his toe.

Edmonton Trip

Well we arrived home from Utah Wednesday night around 11:30pm and I had to get up at 7:00am so I could get to lethbridge for Teacher's Convention on Thursday and Friday. Friday right after Teacher's Convention we left for Edmonton cause I had a Google Docs conference to go to on Monday and Tuesday. So there was a lot of driving being done by me in a matter of a week and a half. Cardston - Utah and back, Cardston - Lethbridge and back twice, Cardston to Edmonton and back.  I never wanted to stay out of a car so bad in my life. We stayed with Ryan and Brandi Friday - Sunday and then we had a free night at the Fantasyland hotel. The kids were so excited to go on the waterslides. Karlee came with us so she could help Kristi with the kids while I was at the conference.
The kids loved the waterslides and had a blast swimming in the wave pool. The had one slide that you were able to go against gravity. You had to be a certain height and weight to go on it. Haydn was too light. Brody was a little sad cause he was too short for some of the really fun slides.

Haydn getting ready to get his
Braces off.
Braces off for Haydn

Well Haydn has been waiting for a long time to get his braces off and start eating the junk food that he has been missing. BUT lets be honest the kid still would eat a lot of the things that he was not supposed to. When he got his braces off the dentist gave him a water bottle filled with the treats that he was supposed to stay away from for the past year or so.

Haydn happy to have his
Braces off.
He Still might have to get braces again as he gets older and his teeth move around. He had them on this time so the dentist could create room in his mouth for his permanent teeth to grow in correctly. But as of right now he has the straightest teeth in grade 4. haha.

Brody is the sweetest kid ever!! last night when me and Kristi walked into our room to get ready for bed we found these notes from Brody on our pillows. He put my two favorite things on there: the Yankees and the number 7. What a great kid. It is always good to see that your kids still love you!!!

My new cleats for softball season, it might
be a bit much this year haha.

Merry Christmas 2012
Tyson getting his "Drink On" during the
Holidays.

The best part about being a school teacher is getting time off with the wife and kids. A 2 week break from school with nothing to do but hang out and eat. Good Times!!! School ended on the 21st of December so there was not a lot of time to finish off the shopping before the big day approached.

My holidays started with my regular Christmas trip to Lethbridge with Jeff and Justin. This is a tradition that we started to finish off our Christmas shopping together. It usually involves a lot of laughing and making fun of each other and those around us. This years trip had an interesting trip to a shoe store where a worker said to me "I can guarantee that I can lace that shoe faster than you" and I returned by saying sarcastically, "Ya, cause I don't know how to lace shoes". Needless to say, the sale didn't go through and I quickly walked out shaking my head about the non sense of salesmanship that kid had. haha. The Trip ended with the uncomfortable trip to La Senza to buy some underwear for Kristi. This has also become a Christmas tradition, but no matter how many times I go in that store it always is so uncomfortable and I end up leaving with sweaty armpits haha.

Tyson opening a gift at the
Wynder Christmas Eve

We had 2 Christmas Eves this year. We had one with my family on the 23rd and then one with Sudo's on the 24th. The Wynder Christmas Eve involved watching the Family video that Jo makes every year. It is great to look back at the year with some video and pics. We all had a great laugh as we recalled some of the funny events of the year. We also had our usual gift exchange where everyone ends up with some type of sports jersey (another Wynder tradition). The evening ended with a lot of food, laughs, games, and Madden 13.

Christmas Eve with the Sudo's starting with a family ping-pong tourney in which I was quickly defeated in the first round by Maddy. All the kids opened their Christmas Pajamas and proceeded to have a dance party. Brody was one of the stars of the show with his "Gangman Style" dance moves and his "Pelvic Thrusting" to the song "Sexy and I Know it". Jett was doing some interpretive Dance / Ballet  while these songs were going on. Jett was showing off his flexibility with his stretches and dance moves. Tyson was also shaking his booty for everyone to see as well. This was entertaining the entire family for at least an hour of this party. The night ended with a Jam session on the guitar with me and Megan taking turns singing songs for the family.

Christmas Day!!!!

All ready for Christmas Morning
Our Children are unlike any other children on Christmas morning. They Sleep In!!! Most kids are up at the crack of dawn bugging their parents to get out of bed and open presents. Not the Wynder boys, they slept until 9:45am and then decided to get the christmas festivities started. Trust me, I am not complaining. The older boys woke up first and we opened presents. we decided to leave tyson sleeping cause we figured it would be easier to open presents without Tyson wanting to open everyones present.

The Stockings were Set on the
couch with such care haha

Tysons Favorite Gift
Haydn and Brody had a good Christmas. Haydn's favorite present was the 3 Guitar Hero games that he got. He played those for the rest of the holidays. Brody's favorite present was a TV that Santa gave him for his room. Tyson's favorite presents were his Buzz lightyear and Woody toys from toy story. He has packed those things around the house everyday since.

Trip to Calgary

All ready for the Water slides
Well we wanted the kids to feel like they actually went somewhere during the Christmas holidays so we wanted to stay in Calgary for a few nights (WooHoo all the way to Calgary!!)  We went to a Hotel that had some water slides and the kids loved it. They swam the whole time we were there, just taking breaks to eat and sleep. haha. Tyson ran away on us once and jumped into the deep end of the pool with out any life jacket. He had to be under the water for a good 5 or 6 seconds before Kristi got to him, but he took it like a champ.

On the way home we went to the Calgary Science Center because we heard it was good for the kids. The kids had a great time and the center  had a lot of hands on activities that they played.
